3 Dagen Zelf Rijden Reis naar Lake Mburo Park

Lake Mburo national park is een van Oeganda kleinste savanne park ligt in het westen van Oeganda. Het is de thuisbasis van maximaal 68 soorten zoogdieren, 350 vogelsoorten en meer dan 13 kleine kratermeren onder andere attracties. Het park werd ooit bedekt door de savanne vegetatie, maar nu een groot deel van het bos, omdat ze geen olifanten temmen steeds grotere bossen. Verwacht bezienswaardigheden van enorme kuddes zebra’s en elanden die gevonden kunnen worden in dit park en Kidepo vallei. Andere dieren omvatten wrattenzwijnen, waterbokken, hyena’s, buffels, oribi, rietbokken, krokodillen, nijlpaarden onder anderen en als je geluk hebt u de leeuwen en luipaarden kunnen spotten. Vogels om uit te kijken naar onder meer de zeldzame schoen, Afrikaanse vin voet, roodwangbaardvogel, Zadel-gefactureerde ooievaar, Afro-wattled kievit, Afrikaanse Dwergooruil, Tabora Cisticola onder anderen. Er zijn tal van spannende toeristische activiteiten te doen in het park, waaronder game drives, boottochten, vogels kijken, wandelingen in de natuur maar ook bezoeken aan naburige lokale gemeenschappen.

Dag 1 – Rit naar Lake Mburo ParkAfstand tot het park is afhankelijk van de locatie waar het bedrijf bood u de huurauto. Het duurt ongeveer 3 tot 4 uur naar het park te bereiken als u rijdt vanuit Kampala stad of Entebbe Airport, terwijl het slechts een uur rijden als je road trip van Mbarara de stad te beginnen. Je zal met behulp van de Kampala-Masaka weg en Mbarara-Masaka weg om er te komen. Er is genoeg van de accommodatie binnen en in de omgeving van het park, maar het is aan te raden je van tevoren reserveren om te voorkomen dat het krijgen van een kamer die je wilde. Check in bij de lodge / hotel / camp en te ontspannen als je voor te bereiden voor de activiteiten van de volgende dag. 

Tip: Vergeet niet om brandstof in de stad en uit te voeren back-up om eventuele overlast te voorkomen 

Dag 2- Spel Rijden & Boot reisNa een vroeg ontbijt, maak je klaar voor de rit door de vlaktes waar u een verscheidenheid van zoogdieren en vogels zal tegenkomen als u zich vergapen aan de prachtige landschappen en de vele kratermeren. Lake Mburo is de thuisbasis van de grootste populatie van de prachtige gestripte Afrikaanse zebra’s en elanden. Op een gelukkige dag, mag u de luipaarden en leeuwen die graag verstoppen overdag spot andere-gewijs verwacht wrattenzwijnen, rietbokken, waterbokken en diverse soorten antilopen en vogels te zien. U kunt rijden naar het zout lek gebieden in de volksmond bezocht door wilde dieren die graag zout lekken van de grond. Transfer terug naar uw lodge of hotel voor de lunch en kort dutje terwijl je voor te bereiden op het meer tour. Rit naar het meer haven, park en reserveer nu uw tickets voor de boottocht op Mburo meer, de 3 uur durende rit biedt u de kans om de krokodillen en nijlpaarden plus een verscheidenheid aan watervogels te zien. Vergeet niet om 3-4 flessen water te dragen als het echt warm kan krijgen die er zijn. Na de boot zet u af bij de kust, heb je de optie van een verblijf in de buurt of het rijden terug naar uw accommodatie

7 Must Try Local Dishes In Uganda

The vibrant Uganda Cuisine consists of traditional and modern cooking elegances, Practices, foods and dishes with a lot of English, Arab and Asian influence especially the Indian culture. Just like the cuisines of other or most countries, it varies in intricacy, from the most basic that is starchy filler with accompanied sauce of legumes like beans or meat to several other course meals that are served in preferably upper class homes and upmarket restaurants. Many of the tribes in Uganda have their own special dishes with many of them including various treats of vegetables, yams, bananas, Cassava, potatoes and various tropical fruits. Stews and sauces can cover chicken, pork, fish, legumes many of them fresh but there is also a variety of a dried course, all re-formed for stewing. More to the sauces, beef, mutton and goat are also commonly eaten in various areas around the country though they are less consumed in rural areas than other urban areas of the country. Commonly they are all termed as Nyama, a Swahili word locally meaning meat.

Matooke

Matooke also locally called ebitookye in south western Uganda and Ibitoke in Rwanda is a fruit of starchy bananas and the commonly cooked type is the green one. Matooke or green cooked banana is peeled carefully, there after wrapped in Banana leaves and in the cooking pot, or  “Sufuria” in the local language with a pile banana stalks to  keep the heat with in the pan and it is steamed for a couple of hours. When it is ready  it turns soft and yellow, it therefore mashed while still wrapped and thereafter it is best served while still hot with tasty  stew of gnuts, meat are fresh fish.

Posho / Ugali

Kawunga the local term for Posho and also commonly known as Ugali is mainly made from maize. Other regions in Uganda make Millet bread out millet grain and is locally termed as Kalo, which is a favorable dish in Western and southwestern regions of the country. In eastern Uganda some regions include cassava flour to make Kawunga and some take it as porridge.

Malewa

Malewa is basically smoked bamboo shoot which is always dried for its preservation. Many of these bamboo trees grow on the foot hills of Mountain Elgon in Eastern Uganda. Originally Malewa was fed on as food not until the recent years where people now prepare it sauce mixed with peanuts or SimSim (sesame seeds). This is a major meal in Bugisu region, therefore if you make a trip to Mbale, do ask for Malewa.

Luwombo

This is also another traditional dish locally prepared in the central region and mainly by Baganda people. This is either a stew of chicken, beef, peanuts, mushroom, or dried fish. The dish is served on many important occasions like wedding parties, restaurants and on special days.

Sim Sim (sesame seeds)

This is a proud staple food particularly in the Northern region of Uganda. The roasted SimSim paste is most times mixed into a stew of greens or beans and commonly served as a side dish. The paste may also be used to spread on bread for breakfast or snacks and more tasty candy.

Ground nuts

Ground nuts are a very special sauce commonly eaten in Uganda. The sauce is served with Matooke, Rice, potatoes, yams and some people eat the ground nuts row, others roast them. It is such a fine delicacy that you can have then as snacks for breakfast

Kikomando

This is an affordable meal on the almost every street in Uganda. kikomando is made of chapatti  pieces cut and served with fried beans. Originally the meal was enjoyed by casual workers who could not afford reasonable meal but today the dish has been formalized and served in upmarket restaurants as well.

3rd June is an important catholic and Anglican holiday in Uganda as it commemorates the day 23 Anglicans including 22 catholics were executed under the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II , then the King of Buganda kingdom.  From 31 January 1885 to 27 January 1887 , the king ordered his royal guards to hunt down any muganda or page who had converted to Christianity and kill them if they refused to denounce the religion and hail the almighty King as a traditional custom done way before the arrival of the first missionaries in 1884.

The Catholic church beatified the martyrs in 1920 and on 18 October 1964, the Uganda martyrs were canonized by Pope Paul VI. Construction of the Namugongo martyrs shrine began as early as 1967 and was opened on 3rd June 1975 , an event attended by a special papal envoy including His Eminence Sergio Cardinal Pignedoli.

Tomorrow marks 132 days since the martyrs execution and this holiday will be no different from the past occasions, many important delegates will be invited and pilgrims from all corners of Uganda and East Africa have already began and this includes tourists from across Africa, Europe among other continents.
