Safety Tips When Driving with Children

Traveling with children is most times fun and most parents would feel happy if they drive around with their children. However much fun this can be, it takes one to  have extra responsibility  about the children as well have control of other drivers on the road so as to  ensure safe travel. Many vehicle hand books feature guidelines for driving with children and most drivers rarely or do not pay attention to these rules and regulation hence causing road accidents due to poor management of children

Below are some of the tips that will help you  on safe driving with children.

1# Position or seating arrangement

All children below 12 years must travel in rare or back seats in their appropriate child seats or buckle up their seat belts. Ensure that children 2 years -6 years are not close to the car doors as they may open the doors while the car is in motion. To keep this from happening, ensure that all doors are locked with central to avoid children from falling out of the car.

2# Buckle up

For all children that can fit well in the car seats, ensure that they buckle up very well. Do not allow your children to drive without a seat belt buckled, seat belts have saved 90% of the children from dying in car accidents. Buckle up your seat belt so that your children learn from you the adult in the car.

3# Secure car gear

Make sure that you work on any loose ends or odds in the car, for example hanging roof material, loosen seat belts, or any other damage on the car. These when not put back right can cause damage to the passengers especially kids.

4# Check around and outside your vehicle

Before you start the car check outside and around your car, many children like playing behind the car or some hide just under the car. It is safe to check before you start your driving, check around the car, and see if there are no children following you or in front of the car.

5# Don’t Text and Drive

Texting while driving is so dangerous because it gets you off the attention for what children are doing in the car. Texting also puts you and other road users in danger since you  your mind is divided to the phone and the road as well

Apart from the normal sense of care, when driving with children , all adults require an extra sense of responsibility.
