Kidepo national park is 1442sq.km located in the Karamoja region of northern Uganda. It borders south Sudan in the north east and Kenya in the northeast. It is a wilderness park with rugged savannah dry, hot, isolated yet a virgin waiting to be discovered, traversed by large sand rivers, dominated by the 2750m mount Morungole and transected by the Narus and Kidepo rivers. Kidepo is one of Africa’s most magnificent wilderness with up to 77 mammal species including large herds of buffaloes, African elephant, maneless zebras, giraffe, cheetah, ostrich, lion, hyena, Jackson’s hartebeests among others .
Getting there – Kidepo is about 517km which may take about 10 hours on road using the Kampala –Karuma – Gulu – Kitgum – Kidepo route which is the easiest and shortest.
